Part 2: Creating a Website
First and foremost, if you do not have a business website already then PLEASE continue reading. This is probably the most important thing you can do for your business now-a-days. It can literally be the life or death of a business. I’m not kidding you. With most of the world having access to the internet now and a daily usage within the billions, you’re hurting your business more than you know. With the potential to sell to millions (or possibly billions) of people, why would you not take the time to create your own or have someone develop your own website?
Being that this is a crucial part of any business, we’re going to go over how to go about getting your website created either by your own hand or by a designer and what you should look out for.
Creating It Yourself
There are tons of incredible platforms that you can use to create a self-made website. To name a few that we have come across and love to work with: WordPress (our #1), Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, and Shopify. Mind you, all these platforms come with their own strengths and weaknesses. For those looking to set up a storefront, then Shopify is an easy way to go. The platform was built with the intention of people going on there to sell products. For those that want to build a basic to somewhat advanced website, then Wix and Weebly are going to be the best options. With tons of ways to customize your website while sticking to themes that make it easy enough that you don’t have to have coding experience, you can’t go wrong here. Just be prepared to spend a fair amount of time getting the right design down. For those that are a bit more adventurous then WordPress is the way to go for you. With tons of ways to customize your website and literally thousands of plugins to add to it, you’re going to be able to build an incredible website with tons of features. The downside to using WordPress is that it can be fairly time consuming if you do not know what you’re doing. Being that this option may require a bit of understanding when it comes to coding, it can delay the process if a plugin goes awry or you need to make an element look a certain way but don’t know how to get it there.
Hire a Professional
I know, I know. Professional web designers seem to be a dime a dozen. You could throw a rock anywhere and hit a web design company. It doesn’t mean that’s how you should pick them though.
I think it goes without saying what the advantage is of picking a denver web design company to create your website for you. You may even think what the difference is between them all when you could either pay a couple hundred dollars or a couple thousand. The real difference between those two is the not only the quality of work in general but the quality in relationship. I can’t stress the second one enough there. The quality in relationship is the most important piece of actually spending money on a web design company because when you have a quality relationship with your web design company, I promise you that quality work will be apart of the package, as well as, a design you will actually enjoy having.
When trying to decide on the quality of a company, it’s best to go to the internet. After being pushed more and more over the years and with finally being integrated as a bigger part of their algorithm, Google Reviews have now become a standard. This is probably the best place to go. No web company is worth its weight in salt if it doesn’t have at least a few good reviews. Most companies will want as many reviews as possible if they are of a quality value. Keep in mind it’s really hard to get tons of reviews because people are just plain busy but you want to look out for at least 5 good reviews or else they may just be afraid of what others are going to say.
